NASA scientists are using a 20-G centrifuge machine that can simulate up to 20 times the terrestrial gravity to evaluate the effects of hypergravity on humans. The goal of these experiments is to reduce the adverse effects that space travel can have on astronauts' physical heath but also to help the rapidly growing senior population.

How will this help the senior population...would they be better off in space??? *the mental picture I got from this is kind of funny*
I don't know how else they would use their findings on gravity in a helful manner.
I read the blog that went with this through the "read more" link & I am still confused. What do you think???
Is your comment "and here's me with a pain in all the diodes down my left side...." from "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish?"
I am a Douglas Adams fan. :-)
Yes, the quote is from HHGTTG, uttered regularly by Marvin the Paranoid Android, along with another quote I use often, "Here's me, size the brain of a planet....". If you've only read the books, try and get hold of the radio series, (there's the TV series as well, but it suffers from low production values. The radio version is far superior) On the Nasa thing, I'm not sure either how it will help with weightlessness or inactivity, nor is the author of the piece reading it through. But I guess they know what they're doing.....
